Brow Lamination

Price: £50

The new and on-trend brow treatment!

Brow lamination is basically a perm for your brows, it gives them a set, uniform shape for an extended period of time. Using a setting lotion the brow hair stays brushed up and lifted for approximately 6-8 weeks.

If you have unruly, flat or downward growing hairs, eyebrow lamination can change the direction of growth to create a more uniform look with a higher arch and a more desirable brow shape.

Our treatment includes brow lamination, a brow tint and wax and a nourishing treatment which you can keep up at home to keep your brow hair subtle and healthy.

Aesthetic Clinics

A variety of aesthetic treatments are available and a full consultation takes place before each and every one.

SPMU Removal

If you’ve had a Semi Permanent Makeup treatment done and you’re no longer happy with it, there are two main methods of removal to consider.
• LASER REMOVAL
• SALT/SALINE REMOVAL
We offer Salt/Saline removal, a gentle yet effective form of removal.

SALT/SALINE REMOVAL
This lightening/removal technique is a natural and safe process. It is effective on SPMU brows and lips, it is not suitable for SPMU eyeliner or traditional tattoos.
It is a fast healing treatment that incurs minimal scarring unlike other methods. The technique is equally as effective on all pigment colours and is suitable for all skin types.

THE TREATMENT
The treatment is similar to having a SPMU procedure.
A salt/saline solution is needled into the area of colour that needs to be remove. Once the skin is broken and the solution is pushed into the skin, a salt paste is placed onto the outermost layers of the skin. The salt solution will begin to draw the ink/pigment to the surface of the skin through a process called Osmosis. In more basic terms, the salt/saline solutions draws the unwanted pigment from the skin enabling it to leave the skin through the scabbing process. You will barely notice this happening.

THE BENEFITS OF SALT/SALINE REMOVAL
Salt/saline removal is gentle in the skin. There’s less risk of scarring and hyper/hypopigmentation compared to laser removal.
The healing process is less aggressive, there is less blistering or redness compared laser removal.
The salt/saline method is not colour selective and is therefore equally as effective on all SPMU ink colours.
Hair growth will not be affected.
This technique is safe for all skin types so if you have darker skin, this is the preferred method of removal.

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL
Laser removal can be expensive.
Laser removal can lead to pigment discolouration and some colours don’t fade as well as others.
If you have a darker skin tone, a suntan or have a fake tan, laser removal is not recommended.

WHAT TO EXPECT
At your consultation we will discuss the area in which to be treated, your medical history, your expectations and what we hope to achieve. This will be your opportunity to ask any questions or raise any concerns. You should feel knowledgeable and confident before we proceed with treatment.
We will discuss costings and your treatment plan so you are aware of an approximate overall cost.

TREATMENT DURATION
You will usually be required to attend multiple sessions for best results. Smaller, lighter or faded SPMU could require as little as 1-3 sessions for removal whereas, larger or deeper SPMU is likely require more sessions.
After each session the treated area will require sufficient time to heal, therefor each session will be based at least 4 weeks apart and no less.

TREATMENT PLAN
Each session typically takes between 30-45 minutes dependant on the size, shape and depth of the area to be treated.

AFTERCARE
The overall success of your treatment is important and your aftercare will play a large part in the process. Your commitment to your aftercare is key, it is your responsibility to follow all advice given. You will be given aftercare advice verbally at your appointment and you will also be give a written copy to take home to enable you to follow the instructions to the letter. By doing this the treated area should heal neatly and safely.
The treated area is likely to be slightly pink/red for a day or so after treatment. You may also experience tenderness and some mild swelling. This is completely normal and no cause for concern. These symptoms should subside within a day or two.
The healing process will take place over the next 1-2 weeks. You will see a light, flakey layer over the treated area. You must not be tempted to pick or rub at this layer, this is your body healing, you should let this process take place naturally, this layer should just fall away through the exfoliation process within the 1-2 week time frame. During the following weeks, you should see the tattoo begin to lighten and fade away.

OUTCOME
You should be realistic in your expectations. Large, complex or deeper SPMU can be difficult to remove completely and in some instances may not be possible. With all forms of removal results cannot be guaranteed. We can only advise likely outcomes on a case by case basis which will be discussed at consultation.

If, after reading this, you think that salt/saline removal is for you, please do not hesitate to get in touch for a chat about your options.

What is SPMU?

SPMU stands for Semi Permanent Makeup and may also be known as micro-pigmentation, brow tattooing and permanent cosmetics. SPMU is often confused with Microblading and although similar, the treatments differ with the pigment implantation technique.

SPMU is performed using a state of the art machine designed specifically for the Semi Permanent Makeup and medical market.  Coloured pigment is implanted into the uppermost layers of the skin with extreme precision creating the most delicate and intricate makeup designs.

SPMU is used to create different eyebrow styles, eyeliners and lip makeup.

Brow designs include

Soft and subtle Hairstroked brows,

Powder brows - solid but soft colour,

Combination brows - a mixture of the two above designs and

Ombre brows - a super soft powder brow with a faded front and top edge.

The Semi Permanent Makeup procedure is carried out in accordance to strict health and safety protocols using only single use, sterile needle cartridges which are disposed of after every treatment.

The procedure is relatively painless and once complete the enhancement should lasts for approximately 1-4 years (depending on the individual).

x2, 60 minute sessions (4-8 weeks apart) are necessary to start your SPMU enhancement and annual colour top ups are required to maintain a fresh and natural look thereafter.  Annual colour top ups consist of x1, 60 minute session.

SPMU machines and pigments are very different to conventional tattoo machines and pigments.

Semi Permanent Makeup is not permanent,  it is less invasive as the coloured pigment is placed just under the epidermis (the uppermost layer of the skin) and pigments are made from naturally derived mineral origins where the colour composition is designed to fade over time through the exfoliation of the epidermis.

Tattooing is an older technique which is designed to be permanent, the pigment contains larger particle which are placed into the deeper layers of the skin and cannot leave.  Tattoos are permanent and will not disappear. They tend to look unnatural and can discolour and blur over time.  Semi Permanent Makeup is a delicate form of tattooing but very different to traditional tattooing.

(Pls note; although SPMU pigment is designed to fade over time some colour may remain within the skin indefinitely).

SPMU Procedure;

A full consultation is completed before each treatment to ensure that the desired look is achieved. This will include the shape, style and colour being drawn on and agreed before the treatment begins.

- A new single use needle is applied to every treatment and the working area is completely sterile.

- The procedure is generally comfortable and lasts for approximately 45 minutes.  Your first appointment will take double this time to include the consultation.

- We advise some pain relief pre treatment, this is entirely optional and just a precautions incase of extreme sensitivity. Asprin, ibuprofen and any other blood thinning medication is not to be taken on the day of treatment.  Paracetamol is recommended.

- It is normal for eyes to water, nose to run and even some sneezes during the treatment time.  Tissues provided.

- Once complete the treated area will look a shade or two darker than the intended colour and perhaps a little puffy and swollen, it is likely that you will feel conscious of the treated area for a day or so post treatment although it is unlikely that anyone else will notice that you have had the procedure done.

- The treated area will take approximately 5-7 days to adjust and heal although it will actually take 4-6 weeks for it  to heal to a safe enough level to work on again therefor all treatments will be based 4 weeks apart and no less.  The pigment colour can take as much as 8-10 weeks to adjust fully however this is quite rare, 4-6 weeks is more usual.

- You will be required to keep the treated area completely dry for one week, you will need to apply a serum morning and evening for one week (serum provided), and you must not pick or rub the treated area for at least one week post treatment,.  Full after care instructions will be provided at your first appointment and thereafter.

The enhancement should last for approximately 1-4 years depending on the individual.

Annual colour top ups are advised to maintain the colour and natural look of the enhancement.

SPMU is truly life changing!!!

It saves time and money and most importantly of all, it enables you to feel like you morning, noon and night.

Reviews

I have the perfect powder brows thanks to Heidi, I have had top-ups over the years and my brows always look fresh and on point. Heidi is highly skilled and takes good care of you, putting you at ease and makes sure that you are comfortable at all times.

Holly - East London

Heidi is amazing! I've been coming to Heidi for years now and I wouldn't go anywhere else.  I get so many compliments on my eyebrows which frame my face so well.  I'm so glad I don't have to waste time drawing them on every morning now!  After being initially nervous, Heidi worked with me to create the perfect brows and gave me the exact brows that I wanted.  I can't recommend her enough!

Jessica Boutcher - Chertsey

I went to Heidi with non-existent eyebrows and came out with the most beautiful eyebrows!  I am quite fair and was worried that they wouldn't look natural but they are just perfect. My only regret is that is that I didn't get them done sooner.

FAQs

What’s the difference between SPMU & Microblading?

SPMU is performed using a digital, cosmetic tattooing machine.  Although SPMU is a form of tattooing it is very different from regular tattooing.  A cosmetic tattoo machine implants small amounts of pigment very close to the skin surface using ultra fine needles. The results are incredibly soft and delicate.  The specially formulated pigments are designed to leave the skin surface through the exfoliation process thus making the enhancement Semi Permanent (please note, some pigment can remain in the skin indefinitely).
Microblading is performed manually with a hand held tool, the results can look very similar to SPMU however Microblading results generally do not last as long as SPMU results.
Both techniques can produce fine hairstrokes or a powder effect.

Does it hurt?

All procedures are performed with your comfort in mind, most people only report minor discomfort. The sensation is often likened to threading or tweezing.  SPMU is generally far less painful than a regular tattoo. Each individuals tolerance to pain is unique and is therefore hard to determine.

We advise some pain relief pre treatment, this is entirely optional and just a precautions incase of extreme sensitivity. Asprin, ibuprofen and any other blood thinning medication is not to be taken on the day of treatment. Paracetamol is the recommend choice.

It is normal for eyes to water, nose to run and even some sneezes during the treatment time.

Will my brows be even?

All cosmetic enhancement will be designed, pre drawn on and agreed by the client and practitioner before the procedure takes place.
A consultation will take place on the day of treatment, this is where the expected outcome will be discussed in detail.
Your desired outcome will be taken on board by the practitioner and then guidance will be given and suggestions will be made.

What will happen at my consultation?

- The Procedure will be broken down and explained in detail to the client.
- Medical history will be discussed.
- Area(s) to be treated agreed.
- Treatment plan to be discussed and agreed.
- Desired result and expected outcomes to be discussed.
- Clients natural skin tones and undertones taken into consideration.
- Colour selection.
- All relevant forms to be completed and signed.
- Pre treatment photographs taken.
- The design pre drawn onto the client and agreed.
- Onto treatment. Treatment time is around 45 minutes, the sensation of SPMU has been likened to threading or tweezing.
- After the Procedure - The results will be discussed in detail between client and technician.
- After photos will be taken
- Treatment completion form to be signed.
- Top up appointment to be booked for 4-8 weeks time.

How long does SPMU last?

There is no definitive answer for this. How long SPMU can last is entirely dependable on the individual, 1-3 years is the  average although rarely it can last longer. Dependable factors are; technique used, and style, also how soon after the initial treatment an annual top up is performed, which pigments are used and strength of colour,  skin type and if aftercare instructions are adhered to.
The following factors may also affect longevity; general skin condition, whether or not you smoke, how much alcohol you consume, the amount of exposure to the sun, (in fact we recommend a min of spf 30 to treated areas.)
If you use sun beds, this will drastically decrease how long your treatment lasts for, as will sunbathing without protecting your skin and the use of products such as aha's and other skin rejuvenating agents to the treated and surrounding areas.
Certain medications and supplements can affect pigment retention as can some medical conditions.
SPMU like with many other aesthetic procedures is not a “one off” treatment and maintenance is required to keep it looking its best.
You can expect to have colour top up procedures annually which are usually charged at a lower price to your initial treatment,
SPMU is a form of tattooing but unlike traditional tattoos, natural pigments are used and the pigment is placed slightly higher within the structure of the skin, the pigment will fade but can actually remain within the layers of the skin permanently hence the other term for treatment 'permanent make up'.

Do I need to shave my eyebrows off?

NO! Please don’t shave your eyebrows off! I will work with and around your natural brows.

Will it look natural?

Your SPMU will look dark and unnatural for around 3-7 days post treatment. You are likely to feel quite conscious of it at this stage although no one else will really notice. After approximately 7 days your enhancement will begin to soften and lighten to a more natural appearance. The enhancement will take a minimum of 4 weeks to heal and can take as many as 12 weeks to settle and adjust fully.
A minimum of 4 weeks is needed in between treatments on the same area.

What colours are available?

There are many colours available to choose from and colours can be mixed to create a unique colour. At your consultation, your natural skin tones and undertones will be discussed in detail along with what you would like the outcome to be. Colour selection is key and it takes an experienced eye to achieve a perfect match. Your expectations will be taken on board and we will use our extensive knowledge and experience to ensure that the perfect colour is selected.
All colours/pigments used meet all of the FDA and EU regulations for safety, testing, quality control and manufacturing. They come with an assured safety record and are certified by PETA as being vegan and cruelty-free.
Pigments contain iron oxides.
White pigments contain titanium dioxide.

Is SPMU safe?

ABSOLUTELY!! The strictest sterilisation and hygiene standards are kept here at The Beauty Bar Guildford to create a clean and safe environment.
Infection control is considered paramount.
Full PPE is worn by practitioners during all treatments.
All equipment used is the latest and most technologically advanced and complies with all Health & Safety requirements.
Single use cartridges and equipment is used for each client and disposed of safely once the procedure is finished.
Disinfection and sterilisation of equipment used between clients.
We adhere to all relevant legislation set by my local authority regarding SPMU procedures and comply with all the relevant regulations set by them.
Our clinic is fully licensed by Guildford Borough council to provide SPMU.

Do I get a say in the outcome?

Yes, a good practitioner will always take on board what the clients wants. Results and expectations should be discussed simply and in detail. All aspects of the procedure will be explained thoroughly although my job as a technician is to guide and make suggestions - not to govern the final outcome. Consultation is most definitely a two way street.

Why is my cosmetic enhancement so dark?

Your SPMU will look dark and unnatural for around 7 days post treatment.

Is swelling normal?

Lips and eyeliners are likely to swell a little. Brows not so much. Swelling is nothing to worry about unless it is persistent. Any swelling after 3 days, we would ask for you to contact us to discuss.

What is a top up and when do I top up?

There are two types of top ups. The top up after your very first treatment and annual colour top ups.

When you have your very first session of SPMU you will be given a top up 4-12 weeks after the first session. This second session is important. At the first session your practitioner will have selected a very “safe” colour, size and shape. This is a sign of a good practitioner. The second session is used to perhaps go a shade darker and perhaps a bit bigger. This session is also used to iron out any imperfections. It is easy to enlarge or darken an enhancement but not so easy to lighten or shrink an enhancement (although it is possible).

Annual colour top ups.

After you have had your initial x2 sessions, to maintain your enhancement, you will be required to top up your colour annually, this is your annual colour top up. As SPMU is designed to fade overtime, annual colour top ups are designed maintain and reinvigorate your enhancement.

This is a single session and is chargeable.
